In 2017 we were contacted by Make A Wish South Carolina. They had a wish kid, Jose, who wanted a professional drum set like Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots. I've always supported Make A Wish and love giving back, so I decided to drive the drums down to SC to hand deliver them to Jose (watch the video here). It was one of the most impactful things I've ever been a part of at SJC and loved being a part of this positive transformation for Jose & his family.
I became close with the Make A Wish South Carolina group, and they invited me to speak at their Make A Wish "Wish Ball" in February, and again to their "Wishes In Bloom" event on May 20. I was asked to speak about my experience as a donor to a make a wish kid, and to speak of the huge impact it had on Jose, his family, and me. It was an incredible honor to speak at both of these events, and to meet and talk to the gracious donors in South Carolina who support Make A Wish and allow them to continue to grant wishes and transform lives.
The event raised close to $100,000 to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses, and to be a small part of that is very humbling.
I urge you to donate anything you can to organizations like Make A Wish. Even if it's just donating your time to a local charitable organization, every little bit counts!
